INTRODUCTION
Located in central Oregon, the city of Redmond is home to over 37,000 citizens. The town is sometimes nicknamed The Hub, which can be seen on its official seal.
The city's constant growth has allowed for many businesses to take root within its streets. While not as impressive as its much more popular cousin, Bend Oregon, Redmond still holds a sizeable option for shopping, recreation, and dinner options.
HISTORY & LANDMARKS
Established in 1910, Redmond grew considerably once the Oregon Trunk Railway connected it to farmers and prospectors. The town was named after Frank T. Redmond, a man who settled there in 1905.
Following World War II, Redmond was home to commercial air service at Robert's Field, which is where the modern Redmond Municipal Airport resides today.
Nowadays, Redmond has many points of interest. The Deschutes Library, located in the heart of Redmond, was formerly a historic building constructed in 1929. But in 2023, it was demolished to create the current two-story library open today.
